Art Exhibition “Sopotstvo”

The Art Exhibition titled “Sopotstvo” by artist Simona Mancheva will be open on 2-nd March at the Gallery of Culture “Ivan Mazov Klime” in Kavadarci. The artistic interests of Kavadarci’s artist Simona Mancheva are based on the perception of fictitious reality and even more positive morality in society.

Through my research I try to show and shake our claws, prejudices and stereotypes that reinforce the boundaries of our freedom, while at the same time developing people’s awareness of realizing their rights and meeting their needs. What does the title “Sopotstvo” really mean? It is the concept we have for ourselves. Self is all that one person does. Descartes says, “I mean I keep, while Barbara Krueger says” Buy means I always “. It depicts the physical and mental being of man. Throughout history man has changed the concept of himself. One’s mental capacity is changeable and transient, just like the body. Until the Renaissance the owner of our bodies was considered God, the body as beautiful and good owned by man with the deconstruction of group identities, with the rise of individualism and the weakening of the church. Attributed, subjective and optative identities are “dependent” on the body, on biological identity. From birth (sex) and throughout life (health) we have struggled with limitations on where, how (to us) we should behave. The source of our fears and pleasures is above all mental or bodily? The body is our sometimes faithful, sometimes mischievous, and sometimes treacherous companion – explains artist Simona Mancheva for her latest solo art project entitled “Self.”
